Engineering

The Engineering and Technology pathway in Georgia’s Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) system prepares students for success in engineering, design, technology, and related technical fields. As part of the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Career Cluster, this pathway helps learners build foundational skills in problem solving, engineering design processes, applied math and science, and hands-on technical applications. Students explore real-world engineering concepts and project-based activities that connect classroom learning to careers in fields like mechanical, civil, electrical, aerospace, and industrial engineering. Through sequenced coursework and opportunities such as work-based learning and student organizations, this cluster supports pathways to post-secondary education, industry certifications, and high-demand careers in Georgia’s workforce.

Students taking this exciting honors level pathway will design, create and produce products, machines and processes from scratch. The sky is the limit for an engineering student at NHHS. From building and racing the electric vehicle to designing and producing their own toys, there is something for everyone.

Completion of this pathway will satisfy the fourth math credit for high school graduation and admission to a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) school.

North Hall High School’s TSA (Technology Student Association) Chapter invites all North Hall County 8th graders to jumpstart an exciting journey in our 3-year Engineering Pathway—where creativity, competition, and real-world skills come together.

Why Join?

Hands-On Engineering — Under advisor Curtis Durham, students design and build projects for TSA state events, including engaging competitions.

Leadership & Growth — We attend the Fall Leadership Conference on Jekyll Island, the State Leadership Conference in Athens, and showcase at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. Students sharpen teamwork and communication while connecting with peers across Georgia.

Electrathon Racing Team — Our electric go-kart isn’t just for learning — We have a full-fledged racing team!  Students design and build a lightweight, high-efficiency electric vehicles, optimizing aerodynamics and battery use to travel as far as possible in a one-hour endurance race. We race 3-4 times during the school year.

What to Expect

Academic & Personal Growth – Students earn engineering credentials, strengthen college applications, and build confidence presenting and leading at competitions.

Community & Support – Join a tight-knit team of peers, mentors, and industry professionals who guide, inspire, and support you every step of the way.

Long-Term Opportunities – Learning extends beyond high school, with scholarships, internships, and future careers in STEM fields often stemming from this experience.

If you’re curious, driven, and ready to build a brighter future North Hall’s TSA and Electrathon team offer the perfect launchpad. Explore your potential, gain real engineering experience, and make lifelong friends—all while having fun and racing to the finish!
