Local Counseling Resources

If your child needs to see a therapist for ongoing counseling, the first step is to obtain a list of counselors who are “in network” for your insurance company. Most health insurance companies provide a phone number on the back of their membership card that connects the consumer to their “Behavioral Health” or “Mental Health” providers. Another resource for connecting to local counselors is the Community Resource Guide (Attached below…)

If your child is covered by Medicaid or similar insurance companies such as Amerigroup or Wellcare, there is a school-based counselor that works with the APEX program for Avita Community Partnerswho can see the child for counseling sessions at school. When the APEX Counselor works with students at school, families must still schedule an initial intake appointment at the Avita Community Partners office and also schedule appointments with the psychiatrist if needed through the office too. Those appointments are not school-based. Before a student can begin working with the APEX counselor, a referral form must be signed and submitted.
